🏆 PoolBotLab Verdict

The Polaris 9650iQ combines everything in the F9550 — 4WD, handheld remote, 70 ft cord — with WiFi app control and voice command support (Alexa/Google). For large-pool owners who want total control from every direction, this is the top of the market.

Full Review

The 9650iQ is the Polaris F9550 with WiFi added — and that single upgrade makes a notable difference. You can start a cleaning cycle from your phone before you leave work, check its status mid-cycle, and get a notification when it is done. Combine that with the handheld remote for manual steering and you have the most control options of any robot on the market.

The Alexa and Google Home integration is genuinely useful. "Alexa, start pool cleaning" works reliably once set up. It's a small thing, but for pool owners who run their home on a smart home platform, it integrates cleanly.

Cleaning performance mirrors the F9550 — excellent, especially in large pools with irregular shapes and corners. The 4WD handles steps, benches, and tight corners better than any 2-wheel robot we tested.

The main complaint remains the eFill bag filter. Emptying it is messier and more involved than the top-load cartridge systems on Dolphin units. At $899, a better filtration system would be expected. It is the 9650iQ's weakest point.
