Full Review
The Dolphin Escape solves the hardest above-ground pool robot problem: most robots were designed for in-ground concrete pools. Their stiff brushes and heavy chassis scratch vinyl liners and get stuck at curved walls. The Escape was engineered specifically to avoid all of this.
The soft foam brush rolls are the key differentiator. They agitate debris and algae effectively without abrasion. In 6 weeks of testing on a vinyl liner above-ground pool, we saw zero scratching or liner distortion.
At 11 lbs, it is also genuinely easy to lift out of a flimsy above-ground frame — which matters when you're doing this every other day. The Nautilus CC Plus at 17.5 lbs is noticeably more awkward to handle over the side of an above-ground pool.
The 1.5-hour cleaning cycle covers most above-ground pools in a single run. The filter basket is easy to access and empties quickly. Our only real complaint is the lack of a scheduler — you have to press a button each time — but at $299, this is expected.
